A tornado outbreak struck southern and central Poland between 15 and 16 August 2008. Overall, it killed 4 people.[1] Tornadoes affected Opole Voivodeship, Silesian Voivodeship and Łódź Voivodeship.

15 August

A tornado touched down at 17:15 p.m. in the village of Zimna Wódka (Opole Voivodeship) and shifted across Sieroniowice, Balcarzowice, and Błotnica Strzelecka. It damaged many buildings.[2] In Silesian Voivodeship near Częstochowa damage was reported at Rusinowice - when one 22-old woman died by collapsed roof, Kalina when one men died by a broken tree and Blachownia. Near Mykanów on national road number 1, a tornado hit a bus and flipped it, hurting 30 people. The event was filmed. About 18:00 p.m. in Łódź Voivodeship a tornado damaged Stara Wieś, Piotrków County, Gorzkowice, and Radomsko.[3]

16 August

Tornadoes damaged Gołasze-Puszcza, Tybory-Wólka in Wysokie Mazowieckie County in Masovian Voivodeship. One woman died by lighting. Other Tornado hit by Gmina Sterdyń and damages 130 buildings.[4]

Effects

The element broke trees, destroy walls, tear away roofs and lifted cars. The tornado path was long on 130 kilometers, but maybe it was tornado family. In total, 4 people were killed and about 770 buildings sustained damage.[5] It was strongest tornado in Poland from a few decades.
